Fun Fix Friday – Helpful Domino Commands For If You Might Have to Restore to New Server

New with Domino 9.0.1 FP9 is an option to list all of the unencrypted or encrypted Domino Databases on a server. These commands can be helpful in several ways.

If you have a requirement to encrypt the NSF files on the server, you can easily check to see which databases are not encrypted.

If you don’t think that you should have any that are encrypted, you can also run the inverse command to see if you do have encrypted NSF files.

And this is also handy to know for your backups. If you do have encrypted files, you can keep them that way in case you need to restore (it’s not a bad idea to have the NSFs encrypted on backups – especially if the team handling the backups shouldn’t have access to the data). But just make sure that you have a good, secured copy of the server’s ID file. 🙂
